[BIRDFEED EXCLUSIVE] This week's Birdfeed exclusive comes from Portland's Drexler!
-How long have you been creating music?
I’ve been making music for about 10+ years. Started in high school with a cracked version of FL Studio and made some sample-heavy hip-hop stuff. Got serious about 3 years ago and put my love of house to the forefront.
-What do you use to make your tracks?
I’m using—dead serious here—the first version of Logic Pro 9. I’ve never upgraded it. Mostly use VSTs with obscure-ish samples peppered in. Looking to get some fun synth and modular toys this year, too.
-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
I’d heard ‘Who’s Afraid of Detroit’ like a lot of people, but ‘Mr. Spock’ really caught my attention when it blew up blogs. Was lucky to meet Justin Jay in college too, so it’s continually been around in my life.
-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
I think the world probably needs a Justin (Martin) x Justin (Jay) x Justin (me) collab! I’d also love to collab with J.Phlip (duh). Or maybe we make it J4?
-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
Men In Black.
-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
My all-time fav might just be LCD Soundsystem’s farewell tour at the Hollywood Bowl. J.E.S.U.S. and Radiohead at Coachella were pretty tops, too.
-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
100% would have to see some dinosaurs, that would be bananas IRL. Would also love to see what ancient Rome was all about or party with Salvador Dalí.
-What species of bird best describes you and why?
A Kakapo, because I too am flightless and nocturnal.
-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
Guaranteed good vibes with good people, and a consistent home of top-shelf underground music. There’s nothing quite like it and I couldn’t be more stoked to be a part of it.
