This week's Birdfeed exclusive comes from Miami's E.R.N.E.S.T.O.!
-How long have you been creating music?
I've been DJing for as long as I can remember. I was lucky to be brought up in a family that enjoyed electronic music, so there were Sven Väth and Daft Punk CDs around the house. I got serious about producing five years ago, when playing other peoples tracks just wasn't enough anymore.
-What do you use to make your tracks?
I use Ableton, Bass Station II, a couple of drum machines and a cheap Shure mic that I use to record most of my vocals.
-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
I heard String Thing by Shadow Child, and it really caught me by surprise, it was the kind of music I didn't even know I needed. From then on it was all Dirtybird all the time.
-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
Gotta go with the legend DJ Funk. He's had huge influence on me, I try to fit that old school juke with breaks and the latin sounds of my upbringing.
-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
"Catch Me If You Can" is pretty accurate, never in one place for too long.
-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Sónar 2007. A crazy Ed Banger showcase with all the heavy hitters, from Justice to Mehdi.
-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
I'd go to the late 70's and catch a prime Frankie Knuckles set at the Warehouse.
-What species of bird best describes you and why?
Troupial, just cause I'm Venezuelan.
-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
Dirtybird is essential to me, musically it's a space for the crazy beats that I love, and as a brand, it brings together likeminded people who don't take themselves too seriously. I think it's every producer's dream to be part of this family and I'm truly honored to have my name next to the artists who've inspired me so much.
